Best Spray Wax for Black Cars
We have been asked by quite a few people about the best type of spray wax to use on black cars? As always we are always more than happy to offer you our opinion on that. For those that are not too sure, this is the type of wax that comes in a plastic bottle, and you spray on using a trigger. It is pretty much like many of the household domestic cleaners that you will find in supermarkets. Have a look at the picture below and you will see what we are driving at.
As many of you will know car wax usually comes in a tub or jar so the spray one is more about ease of use and convenience. If you want to find out about the more traditional waxes, and which are best then please check out this article. Now with reference to the spray variety, there is honestly not a great deal of choice, and Turtle Wax seem to be the only manufacturer who have specifically created a product of this nature for black vehicles. In fact they have made 2 products, so let’s have a look at those:
- Turtle Wax T-319
- Turtle Wax T-11
Turtle Wax T-319 Black Spray Detailer
At its current price of around $10 we think that is more realistic. Overall when we used this product we thought the finish was very impressive. Now when we say impressive, we mean pretty amazing actually, however there are a few buts. People tend to forget that this is a wax and not a miracle worker. This wax contains a black pigment which does help fill in minor scratches, but it won’t fill in what we would term real scratches.
The car also needs to be properly washed and allowed to dry before applying a good polish and then this type of wax. Please remember that folks, this is a wax and not a polish. We used this on a BMW 5 series and it produced an amazing finish, but let me tell you now, this involved plenty of elbow grease and buffing to get it there.
You will be well pleased by the level of protection this offers and it makes you smile to see the way that rain beads on this stuff when a shower hits. We really liked this one in terms of a fantastic shine and great protection. It was hard work but we thought worth it in the end.
Turtle Wax T-11 Black Spray WaxCarnauba as an ingredient, so for us that is a good start.
This bottle costs under $8 but there is less in it, so an ounce for ounce basis the two products are almost the same vale for money. It is a lot easier to put on and rub off and it produces that deep shine, that many car owners really crave.
The only thing we didn’t like about this one is that it truly messes up any cloths you may be using. This stuff is black, so be prepared to wash out anything that touches this in a sink first, before tossing into a washing machine. You have been warned!!!
No question it does a great job and buyers rate this 4.2 out of 5 which is higher than the first one. We would have it rated at the same to be honest. The T-319 does just as good a job as this one in terms of shine but without the mess of the cloths. With this one the shine is more shiny if that makes sense, but with the T-319, we thought the shine was deeper.
Meguiars G14422 – Ultimate Quik Detailer
We still rate this one as our absolute favorite and we have yet to see anything out there that compares with this product in terms of a quick spray wax. In the true sense of the word waxing, this is not like a full blown wax product. However what this is excellent for is to top up in between waxes. It adds a high level of protection and offers great shine and makes your car look great with little effort.
If we had to pick one from the three we have reviewed, this one wins hands down for us.
Buyers agree with us and rate this product 4.7 out of 5 and hopefully that should tell you everything you need to know. That is even after over 200 people have left their reviews. It is probably one of the most outstanding products on the market and does a super job. There are many people out there who say that it really doesn’t matter what color your vehicle may be, and that any wax if it is good quality will do the job.
We pretty much agree with that. What some manufacturers do is that they add a black tint to existing waxes and the theory is that this tint will fill in any swirl marks or very light scratching. We have waxed two cars side by side, using one of these products and then did the other one with this Meguiars product.
Hands down every single time, we preferred the Meguiars.
