Best Clay Bar Kit Reviews 2017

Using a clay bar kit on your car or vehicle, is a step that many people leave out. It is I guess how fussy or particular you want to be with your car. Many people are happy enough with a good wash, polish and shine.

However for those of you who are like me, and want not just a great finish, but a super smooth finish to your car, then a clay bar kit is the way to go. For me the finish is as different as day and night.

Most people don't do this simply because they don't know much about the clay bar, or have never even heard of them. Some have tried them and perhaps not used them properly, or used a cheap one with bad results. Others simply don't want to put that extra effort in. They are happy enough as long as the car has a nice shine to it.

Running your hand over a car that has been properly treated with a clay bar, is for me anyway a real joy. There are a few good quality clay bar kits available.

How To Use Clay Bar Kits

The principle of all these kits is pretty much the same, when it comes to using them. Rather than have a lot of words to explain the process, have a look at the video below.

For the most part the key to using clay bars successfully comes down to the preparation of the vehicle surface. The car does need to be thoroughly washed and rinsed. Use a good car wash to do that, and then rinse that off. Then leave the car wet and do not dry.

This is when you apply the clay bar. Take your time and do a small part at a time. It does take a bit of elbow grease, but the results are worth it. An area that is one foot square is enough at any one time.

These bars come in many different types and grades. We would only recommend using a fine or medium clay bar. There are aggressive clay bars, but don't use these if you are new to the clay bar process.

Clay Bar Lubricants

When you buy a clay bar kit, they usually come with some form of lubricant. Some of these are better than others. I find these days that ordinary water with a little liquid soap, works just as well and is close to being free. These help keep the surface lubricated and don't be afraid to use it.

The key is to glide your clay bar across the paintwork. Don't apply too much pressure and let the clay bar do the work for you. You’ll gradually feel the surface begin to get smoother as you work.

Enda
